Thank you for all you and your office are doing to bring much-needed COVID-19 relief to our country during this public health crisis. The COVID-19 relief measure passed in December 2020 was a crucial step to providing assistance households at risk of eviction, but America’s lowest-income renters and people experiencing homelessness need additional resources and protections. As the "American Rescue Plan Act" (ARPA) now heads back to the House,  I urge you to vote to approve the relief package including the nearly $50 billion in essential housing and homelessness assistance.

Any final spending package should include the Senate-approved $27.4 billion in rental assistance -- this includes $21.55 billion in emergency rent assistance, $5 billion for emergency housing vouchers, $750 million for tribal housing needs, and $100 million for rural housing programs -- and $5 billion for homelessness interventions and long-term supports. The ARPA bill also includes $9.96 billion for homeowner assistance and $100 million for housing counseling.

These measures to support low-income renters and people experiencing homelessness are critical steps to respond to the public health emergency and to pave the way for more permanent solutions to housing inequities.
