After a long hiatus, EV test drive events are back

For many years, Plug In America has been giving consumers the opportunity to test drive and learn about electric vehicles through National Drive Electric Week, Drive Electric Earth Day, and EV ride and drive events throughout the year. With the advent of COVID-19, we quickly pivoted and successfully transitioned nearly all events online. While online events can be great for providing useful information about EVs, there is nothing like the excitement of getting behind the wheel of an EV for the first time. Our ride and drive events provide the opportunity to connect with local EV owners and experience the latest EVs.

Over the past several months, we began transitioning back to in-person events. Our Drive Electric Earth Day in April saw volunteers across the country successfully implement over 200 events with more than twice as many attendees as last year, breaking records. Many events offered test drives and rides with masks on and windows down for maximum safety. After each drive, high-touch areas such as the steering wheel, gear selector, and seat controls, were disinfected for the highest standard of safety.

We are also now producing many ride and drive events that are being held throughout the year in locations including New Jersey, Chicago, and Southern California, with many more to come in September as part of National Drive Electric Week! We are also excited to announce that our new events manager, Brittany Swinson, is joining our team to help coordinate our numerous events across the country. We look forward to seeing you at a ride and drive event soon!
