Summer Skills: Canoeing Basics

Hickory Grove Park, Story County

Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Join SCC staff on the beach at Hickory Grove Park for an afternoon of canoe instruction.  Participants will learn canoe safety, steering and paddling techniques and then test their skills canoeing on the lake. Be prepared to get wet, and have fun! Wear shoes and clothing that can get wet; bring water bottles and sunscreen. All equipment will be provided.

This camp is only for children that will be completing 5th grade in the fall of 2021.

Registration begins May 3rd at 6 pm, and goes until May 24th at 4 pm.

Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the public and the staff. In response to COVID-19, Story County Conservation programs will adhere to social distancing, smaller group size, increased sanitation, and we recommend face coverings when social distancing is not possible or while indoors. Pre-registration will be required when group size needs to be limited due to the facility or location.
