Save Our Streams Training

The Iowa Environmental Council hosts several events throughout the year, including our Environmental Lobby Day during legislative session and Pro H₂O in the spring.

We also host and participate in other members-only and open events throughout the year including clean-ups; water monitoring; wind, solar and water tours; house parties; receptions and more. To submit an event to be considered for our calendar, please click here.

The Izaak Walton League of America is conducting safe and effective field trainings with their 'Save Our Streams' staff and volunteer trainers. The Save Our Streams field trainings offer hands-on experience in water quality monitoring, including biological, chemical, and physical stream assessments. Participants also learn to assess stream habitat and watershed land uses. To become a certified Save Our Streams monitor, and participate in the in-person event, watch the introductory training webinars and take the macroinvertebrate identification exam here!
