Vermont Family and Medical Leave Insurance Coalition

The Vermont Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FaMLI) Coalition is a group of organizations working to establish a statewide paid family leave insurance program in Vermont. The Coalition is co-chaired by Main Street Alliance – Vermont and Voices for Vermont’s Children. More than 20 other Vermont organizations are members of the coalition.

A statewide paid family and medical leave insurance program – one of the nine issues on the Alliance’s 2019 Legislative Agenda – will support the health, well-being, and economic security of Vermont’s children and families and ensure that future generations thrive.

State House politics created a complex environment for the family and medical leave insurance issue this legislative session. While negotiations continued until literally the last minute, the House and Senate were unable to come to an agreement on a final version to send to the Governor. The Legislature is expected to take up the issue again in January.

Alliance’s 2020 Legislative Agenda-Setting Process 

The Alliance's annual Legislative Agenda is crafted in partnership with early childhood organizations that are advancing policy solutions through the legislative process. The Legislative Agenda setting process is open, and the Alliance Steering Committee invites proposals by organizations for consideration.
