Giving Birth in New Jersey:

Honoring NJ Maternal Health Awareness Day 2021

Featuring Michelle Gabriel-Caldwell, PhD

and

Jill Wodnick, MA, LCCE, IMH-E

NJ-AIMH is proud to partner with Montclair State University's Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health (CAECMH) and Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ) to offer this webinar in honor of the Fourth Annual #123forMoms NJ Maternal Health Day.

New Jersey currently holds one of the nation's worst disparity rates for black infant and maternal deaths. Improving maternal health outcomes means discussing birth disparities and racial biases impacting infant and maternal deaths and the policies that can prevent them. Come experience a welcoming introduction to childbirth education, physiology and the wonder of birth!

Michelle Gabriel-Caldwell is a highly sought after perinatal educator, speaker, advocate, and scholar. She is the owner of Baby, Please Birth Services and certified doula services. An Evidence Based Birth Instructor (EBB), Michele serves as the Birth Center of NJ Doula Program Coordinator and is an Advisory Board Member and Doula Mentor for the National Black Doulas Association. Michelle facilitates learning and mentoring that is essential for new doulas woven with warmth and reflective tools.

Jill Wodnick focuses on respectful, high value maternity care and breastfeeding supports through Montclair State University's Giving Birth & Being Born Initiative on Improving Maternal Health. She is a childbirth educator and makes prenatal education accessible to community and clinical partners and is an Endorsed member of NJ-AIMH.

Jill and Michelle have jointly represented NJ mothers nationally through Every Mother Counts at the Mom Congress in Washington DC.

This session is offered free of charge to all registrants.

Participants will be invited to contribute to this conversation through a live Twitter stream.

Participants will receive a certificate for 1 hour of Endorsement® competency.
