In 1966, the legislature passed and the governor signed a law creating the NJ State Council on the Arts and directing us to do all that is necessary and appropriate to: support, encourage, and foster public interest in the arts; enlarge public and private resources devoted to the arts; promote freedom of expression in the arts; and facilitate the inclusion of art in every public building in New Jersey.
Registration now open for The Business of Being an Artist virtual workshop series, and our Teaching Artist Community of Practice. Applications now open for the 2024 New Jersey Arts Annual.
With these combined strategies, it is the Council’s goal to meet the changing needs in the field – keeping in mind the unique challenges and opportunities within the arts, arts education, and education sectors as a whole.
New Jersey's rich arts community has a unique opportunity to engage their audiences with a once-in-a-generation initiative. RevolutionNJ is New Jersey's official commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, happening in 2026. To get involved, visit revnj.org!
We’re looking for grant review panelists for these FY25 grant program opportunities: General Operating Support, General Program Support, Projects Serving Artists, Folk & Traditional Arts Project.
