Carl Champigny is running the 2021 Boston Marathon to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) and to raise funds for the Greater Boston Chapter (GBC) of United Spinal Association.
Every dollar raised will support the GBC's Mission to improve the quality of life for individuals and their families affected by a life-altering spinal cord injury.
For over 28 years, we have changed thousands of lives, one person at a time. We do not, and have never, charged for our services.
The Greater Boston Chapter (GBC) of United Spinal Association's mission is to Reach, Inspire, Support & Empower (RISE) individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). We are the only organization in Massachusetts to solely offer peer support as well as tangible and practical resources to give people the tools and hope to find their path for living a meaningful life with an SCI. We are most proud of our nationally-recognized peer mentor program that provides positive peer role models to injured individuals and their families both during inpatient and after rejoining the community. We also offer a variety of resources including support groups and social events.
MEET CARL CHAMPIGNY
On October 11th, I'll be running the 125th Boston Marathon for the Greater Boston Chapter (GBC) of the United Spinal Association. Recently, I was fortunate enough to meet many people at their office located in the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown, MA. The work that the GBC does to help those who have spinal cord injuries is beyond incredible, and I am truly humbled to be running this year and raising money on their behalf. To say that my visit there gave me a new appreciation for my ability to be able to walk (and run) is nothing short of an understatement.
A lifelong North Shore resident, I love spending time with my family and am blessed to have an incredible wife named Tara. We have been together for 21 years and married for sixteen. Together we have three incredible children named Ava (14), Carl III (12), and Brooks (7). Spending time with them is always an experience, as they have very similar, yet very different personalities. I can't imagine life without them. I've also enjoyed being employed at my home-away-from-home as a senior designer at McCormick Kitchens & Baths in Saugus, MA for the past 20 years.
Eating and trying different foods is one of my favorite things to do, and I'm trying to find something that I don't like. A few other favorites of mine are hanging out with my Momma, taking trips to the White Mountains, going camping, hitting the gym, running, jamming to my favorite music, appreciating mother nature, science, art, history, and of course eating.
Thank you so much for your support and helping me reach my goal. Any amount you can donate to this incredible organization will be greatly appreciated, as it’s the generosity from people like you that help so many others that are in need. Looking forward to Marathon Monday on October 11th!
