2024 marks the 48th Annual HFFA Annual Meeting and Fly Fishing Show, a homegrown showcase of presentations, vendors, non-profit partners, fly tying, and related exhibits. Silent auctions, Saturday evening banquet, and live auction help raise funds for fisheries , conservation, and recreation in Iowa.

Our banquet speaker was Lora Friest, former Executive Director of NE Iowa Resource Conservation & Development, where she and her team implemented some of the most successful watershed projects in Iowa, and helped secure 100's of millions of dollars for dozens of watershed projects, stream restorations, dam removals, natural resource protection and restoration projects and innovative conservation cropping initiatives. Today Lora is one of two Tourism Liaisons for IEDA Iowa Tourism Office and administers the Iowa Tourism Grant.

About Our Auctioneer
David Aeschliman, CEO of Growth Work, LLC, specializes in crafting and implementing growth strategies for businesses across 35 industries, having developed over 400 plans for 200 companies. Alongside his role, he owns Walnut Creek Auction Company, conducting over 600 auctions, and founded Walnut Creek Auction College to train future auctioneers. Raised on a Kansas farm immersed in the auction industry, David holds a journalism and marketing degree from Kansas State University.

His accolades include being the 2006 Class A Illinois State Champion bid caller and raising over $7 million for various causes, notably contributing $1 million to the Iowa FFA Foundation. David, residing in Sherrard, IL, with his wife, enjoys fishing and recently built a "retirement fishing pond" after clearing 6 acres of land. Today, in his semi-retirement, David coaches businesses, serves as an auctioneer, and delivers inspirational speeches for diverse audiences, including youth guidance groups, while also assisting with agricultural endeavors.

    • Includes one individual weekend admission to the show, 1 Banquet Ticket, 1 Lunch Ticket - a $97 value. Must be purchased online by Feb. 14. NOT available at the door!

Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association (HFFA) holds events and provides resources for people interested in fly fishing, fly tying and fish habitat conservation. We are an Iowa-based affiliate of Fly Fishers International.
