LGK Hosts ‘Child Care is Everyone’s Business Press Event’ – 4/27

Let’s Grow Kids (LGK) is inviting business champions for child care to an event at the State House in Montpelier to declare their support for Vermont's Child Care Campaign and public investment in a strong and stable child care system that meets the needs of all Vermont's children, families, businesses, and economy.

Parents and employers have identified the extreme lack of high-quality child care as a central barrier to rebuilding Vermont's workforce and economy. With your leadership, together with CEOs from around the state, parents, and early childhood educators, we will urge lawmakers to prioritize and invest in child care for what it is: the workforce solution of our time.

The event will be held in-person at the State House in Montpelier on April 27 at 11:45 am. For more information, visit the LGK website.

BBF Systems Analysis Survey – Deadline 5/5

Building Bright Futures (BBF) is looking for input on governance options for Vermont’s Child Care and Early Childhood Education Systems Analysis. The Systems Analysis was called for in legislation passed in 2021, and is designed to provide recommendations for how to improve the functionality of Vermont’s child care and early childhood services and systems.

Five options for the governance of the early childhood education system have been outlined and presented in a “Vermont Governance Options” document and also presented to a joint legislative hearing on April 13.

Now is the time for your voice to be heard on this very important process. Complete this brief survey by May 5 to indicate your preferences for governance options and to inform the final report, which will be sent to the Legislature in June.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
