ARPA Child Care Stabilization Grant – Application Process Beginning

The application process for the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) Child Care Stabilization Grant opens on October 22, 2021. This grant program, funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), aims to help cover unexpected business costs associated with the pandemic and stabilize operations so the industry can continue to provide care.

An online application and tutorial will be emailed to all regulated child care providers in Vermont in the coming days.

Rally for Reconciliation Held in Burlington

Hunger Free Vermont, the Community of Vermont Elders, the VT FaMLI Coalition, Let’s Grow Kids, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Voices for Vermont Children, small business owners, and other partners gathered on Tuesday in Burlington for a rally to support a comprehensive federal reconciliation bill that supports the economic recovery and wellbeing of Vermont families.

VPR VT Edition This Week – Child Care and Homelessness

This week, VPR’s Vermont Edition program has featured two topics that have been prominent in the Alliance’s Legislative Agenda. On Wednesday, the discussion centered on the crisis in the child care system in Vermont and the new state plan to get federal funds to providers.

Today, the conversation focused on homelessness in Vermont with Mairead O’Reilly, Staff Attorney at Vermont Legal Aid, and Jay Diaz, Associate Director of the Vermont ACLU.

Join the Team at Vermont Afterschool

Vermont Afterschool is seeking a Communications & Development Coordinator to advance their work through strategic communication efforts and expanded development capacity. This full-time position is based in their South Burlington office. All staff are currently working hybrid remote/in-person schedules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will return to the office when public health and safety guidelines allow.

LGK Action Team Meetings in October

The Let’s Grow Kids Action Network has begun meeting with local Action Teams in preparation for the 2022 legislative session. Connect with your local field manager at an upcoming meeting to hear updates from this summer of action, hear the most recent child care policy update, and plan a legislative gathering to connect with your local legislators in November/ December.
