Tardeada de Poesia

Acompaña a Columbia Riverkeeper y a la invitada especial, Claudia Castro Luna, para una tarde de poesía para la familia. Este es un taller de poesía kid-friendly en Español que se enfocará en temas alrededor del medio ambiente y ecosistemas de ríos. Los niños y sus familias tendrán la oportunidad de escribir poesía, dibujar, y publicar su trabajo en la página web de Columbia Riverkeeper. Este evento será impartido y guiado en Español y los niños y sus familias son bienvenidos a conversar en cualquier idioma que les haga sentir cómodos.

Join Columbia Riverkeeper and special guest, Claudia Castro Luna, for an afternoon of poetry for the family. This is a kid-friendly poetry workshop in Spanish that will focus on themes around the environment and river ecosystems. Kids and their families will have the opportunity to write poetry, draw, and publish their work on Columbia Riverkeeper’s website. This event will be instructed and taught in Spanish and kids and families are welcome to speak in whatever language is comfortable for them.

Es ganadora de la Beca de La Academia de Poetas Americanos Asociados, autora de “Killing Marías,” finalista del premio del Libro de WA State 2018, “ One River, a Thousand Voices”, y el folleto “This City”. Nacida en El Salvador,  vino a Estados Unidos en 1981. Sus trabajos de no-ficción han aparecido en la revista YES!, las antologías This is the Place (Seal Press) y Vanishing Points: Narrativa Contemporánea Salvadoreña (Kalina Eds). Claudia Castro Luna is Washington State Poet Laureate (2018 – 2021) and served as Seattle’s first Civic Poet (2015-2017). She is the author of “This City,” “Killing Marías,” and “One River, A Thousand Voices.” Born in El Salvador, she came to the United States in 1981. She currently lives in Seattle with her family. Her non-fiction has appeared in YES! Magazine, the anthologies This is the Place (Seal Press) and Vanishing Points: Contemporary Salvadoran Narrative (Kalina Eds). Learn more at castroluna.com

que promueven la conciencia en temas relevantes para los Latinos en Oregon y Washington. En los últimos quince años, él ha dedicado su tiempo libre para lanzar y participar en múltiples proyectos que benefician a la comunidad Latina, incluyendo la estación de radio comunitaria Radio Tierra.  En su tiempo libre, disfruta de la bicicleta de montaña, pesca y montañismo en el Columbia Gorge.

Ubaldo Hernandez, works as a Senior Organizer, conducting community outreach on clean water while promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity. Ubaldo has been an active member in the Latino community in the Columbia Gorge, participating in projects that promote awareness on issues that are relevant to Latinos in Oregon and Washington. In the last fifteen years, he has dedicated his free time to launch and participate in multiple projects benefiting the Latino/a/x community, including the local community radio station Radio Tierra. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, fishing, and hiking in the Columbia Gorge.
