It’s often said that health is wealth. Similar to the financial wealth gap, there’s a glaring disparity in health outcomes across the United States. Health affects everyone. But for some, the inequities are more significant. Journalists—including those who don’t typically report on health—can help shed light on these inequities.
This event, presented by Asian American Journalism Association L.A. (AAJA-LA) and the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy at JANM, is the first of a series of panels from AAJA-LA’s health equity program, supported by a grant from The California Endowment. Panelists will share their own experiences reporting about health and why it’s important. They will also discuss how to pursue health equity stories that will in turn help communities achieve health equity.
The conversation will be followed by information about how to apply for the 2023 AAJA-LA health equity fellowship program, which includes a $2,500 grant and mentorship.
