Lisa Gilbert Named Public Citizen’s Vice President of Legislative Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Public Citizen’s Lisa Gilbert will take on a new role within the organization: vice president of legislative affairs.

Gilbert has spent the past six years as director and deputy director of Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division. Congress Watch acts as Public Citizen’s primary lobbying and policy branch that works on access to justice, health and safety, regulatory policy, conflicts of interest, ethics, campaign finance reform, financial policy, taxes and the budget.

In her new role, Gilbert will continue to oversee Congress Watch, but also will work across Public Citizen to deepen the organization’s legislative and executive branch strategy and coordination, as well as engage more deeply in cross-cutting coalitional work.

“Lisa Gilbert is a dynamo for democracy and justice. She is an extraordinary strategist, a coalition builder nonpareil, an incisive analyst, and an incredibly hardworking and effective advocate,” said Public Citizen President Robert Weissman. “Public Citizen – and America – will benefit from her leadership in such challenging and dangerous times.”
