Summer Set 2024

We at Fog City are currently in the stages of planning our next set, which will begin in mid-May and take us through mid-July. Our theme for this set is “Into the Horizon”, with which we will be using songs about sky, dawn, and weather to look not just upwards, but forwards—into our own artistic horizon.

We are excited to be punctuating this set with a return to the BHS International Contest Stage in Cleveland, OH on Saturday, July 6. This will be our fourth time competing at International, and our first under the directorship of Kory Reid.

However, always sure to be keeping our local audience close, we will be having an “international send-off” show on Thursday, June 27, featuring Fog City and other international-level barbershop talent from around the area.

Stay tuned for information on how to secure your tickets for this show.

In 2019, our partner ensemble Fog City Harmonia became one of the first SSAA choruses in the Barbershop Harmony Society, on the heels of the society’s “Everyone in Harmony” initiative.

Since then, they have quickly become an essential part of the San Francisco singing community, dazzling audiences with their close harmony and lively performance energy.

FCS Announces New Director

Since the Fog City Singers’ inception, director Chris Lewis has given every downbeat. He has been our guiding visionary, the single constant unifying the 2015 meticulously-assembled “New SF Chorus” with every iteration to have represented the name “Fog City Singers” in the years since.

The Fog City Singers chorus would not be what it is today without Chris Lewis. The Fog City Singers would not be without Chris Lewis. But all good things must eventually come to an end, and it is with tremendous pride and sadness that Fog City wishes Chris well as he voluntarily steps away from his role as director and begins a new chapter of his life.

Of course, a wise poet once likened one door shutting to another door opening. And as such, we are equally excited to announce Kory Reid as the next director of the Fog City Singers.

Kory is a Bay Area local who began his singing journey via barbershop in the 2000s. He has a B.A. in Music Education from Pepperdine and a Master of Music in Choral and Sacred Music Conducting from USC. He has quartetted on the FWD stage and sang with the Westminster chorus in their 2010 gold-medal winning international performance. In addition to his exceptional barbershop pedigree, he also just finished 11 years singing countertenor with and assistant-directing the world renowned, SF-based choral ensemble Chanticleer, traveling the world both performing and leading educational-outreach initiatives.
