Even though the Palestinian and Israeli conflict is thousands of miles away, a group of people is in the Wausau area trying to raise awareness to what is going on.

Members of the Churches for Middle East Peace were at Immanuel Church on Monday. They held a panel presentation emphasizing the conditions that some of the Palestinian people are living in right now. The church brings people from Christian, Muslim, and secular backgrounds together. With one goal, to make a difference.

"Our work for Churches for Middle East Peace focuses mostly on the Holy Land and to bring together a multiplicity of narratives to talk about ways to find justice in the Holy Land," Churches for Middle East Peace Director Alison Glick said.

"It's important for people to realize that there is urgency there and the status quo is not beautiful, it's bloody. And your votes in the United States help us go to peace like the church visit today," Director of Fellowships at Zimam Palestine Obada Shtaya added.

Monday’s event isn’t the only one that is being held in the area. There will be two more events over the next two days. The group will be meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Wausau YWCA. There’s another at the Holy Cross Clare Center in Merrill at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
