Justice for Daunte Wright — Actions and Places to Donate

Justice for Daunte Wright

On Sunday, April 11, in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, yet another Black man, Daunte Wright, was shot and killed by police.

After viewing the footage of the murder of Daunte Wright, a community member said:

As Black mothers, we are tired of burying our sons. Our sons don’t die. They are killed, and they are taken away from us.

During Black Maternal Health Week, while the trial of Derek Chauvin continues, we are once again grieving, nauseated, numb, sad, angry, disillusioned, and disgusted.

We are also resolved to continue fighting until we achieve full reproductive justice, an organizing framework created by Black women where every person has the ability to decide if, when, and how to become a parent; raise healthy children in safe and thriving communities; and have gender freedom and bodily autonomy.

This includes working towards a future where Black mothers, and the mothers of Black sons, can raise their children and live safely in their communities, free from violence from the state.

And it includes holding systems accountable that time and time again treat Black people like they are dispensable.
