SUMMARY
Our letter supports campaigns by various organizations and opinions by members of Congress, Social Security Works, Common Dreams, the Center for Economic Policy Research, and others.
Currently, only wages up to a certain cap—$168,600 in 2024—are subject to the Social Security payroll tax. Our letter asks Congress to remove the cap so that everyone making over $250,000 pays a flat percentage into the system (currently 6.2% for employees and employers).
We will send your email messages to your Congressperson, your Senators, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (for their respective caucuses). You will also have the opportunity to tweet your message to those people.
Pass S. 393/H.R. 1046—the “Social Security Expansion Act”
NOTE: While we support the campaigns of various organizations, we’re not associated with any of them, and we don’t share our member information with any person or organization. Ever.
