Who Will Be Teaching the 2021 Fellows?

As the summer draws near, we're thrilled to share with you the members of our 2021 N. American and Israeli Faculty! This pluralistic team of high-caliber educators will inspire Fellows with a diverse range of perspectives and help create a space for meaningful intellectual exploration.

North American Faculty

Rabbi Adina Allen is co-founder and Creative Director of Jewish Studio Project (JSP), a nationally recognized Jewish learning organization that brings together practices from the beit midrash (house of Jewish study) with a powerful approach from the field of art therapy. A spiritual leader, writer and educator, Adina was ordained in Hebrew College’s pluralistic training program in 2014 where she was a Wexner Graduate Fellow. Read more here.

Evan Parks ('05), a returning faculty member, is a PhD candidate in the department of Germanic Languages at Columbia University, where he researches modern German literature and German-Jewish intellectual history. His thesis explores the encounter between several prominent 20th century thinkers and the postwar poetry of Paul Celan. He facilitated Bronfman alumni trips to Germany in conjunction with Germany Close Up in 2015 and 2018. Read more here.

Rabbi Micha’el Rosenberg, a returning faculty member, is associate professor of Rabbinics and member of the tenured faculty of Hebrew College. He joined the College faculty in August 2012. An alumnus of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship program and Harvard College, Micha'el holds a doctorate in Talmud and Rabbinic literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary and rabbinical ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Read more here.

Darshanit Dr. Miriam Udel, editor and translator of Honey on the Page: A Treasury of Yiddish Children’s Literature, is associate professor of German Studies and Jewish Studies at Emory University, where her teaching focuses on Yiddish language, literature, and culture. She holds an AB in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University, as well as a PhD in Comparative Literature from the same institution. She was ordained in 2019 as part of the first cohort of the Executive Ordination Track at Yeshivat Maharat. Read more here.

Jake Marmer, Education and Programming Director of The Bronfman Fellowship, is the author of the poetry collections Cosmic DiasporaThe Neighbor Out of Sound, and Jazz Talmud. Jake’s diverse teaching experience includes University of Pennsylvania and Adelphia University, Kehillat Hadar and the Pardes/Silicon Valley Beit Midrash, KlezKanada and KlezCalifornia. He has recorded two klezmer-jazz-poetry records: “Purple Tentacles of Thought and Desire” and “Hermeneutic Stomp." Read more here.

 
 
 

Israeli Faculty

Rabbi Hagit Sabag Israel is a social and educational activist, and a faculty member in the Jewish Studies department at Ono Academic College. She is a founder of the Forum for Jewish Renewal in the Negev and is also a member of an inter-religious initiative there. Read more here.

Rabbi Dr. Rani Jaeger is a research fellow, faculty member, and head of the recently formed Ritual Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute. He is one of the founders of Beit Tefilah Israeli, a secular synagogue in the heart of Tel Aviv. Read more here.

Neta Polizer (Amitei Bronfman ’05) was formerly the Amitim Faculty & Manager of Fellowship Year Experience. He has extensive experience in the fields of education and Israeli-Jewish identity, and in managing educational programs for gap year volunteers. Read more here.

Rabbanit Dr. Michal Tikochinsky is a leading scholar and lecturer in Talmud, Jewish law and women’s issues. She is Director of the Moshe Green Beit Midrash for Women’s Leadership and the Women’s Halakha Program. Read more here.
