Take Action: Protect the DNR's ability to acquire, protect, and maintain Iowa's public parks
Senate File 2324 seeks to prohibit the Iowa Department of Natural Resources from securing land at auction that will become public natural and outdoor recreation areas. This bill is the latest attempt to restrict opportunities to enhance Iowa's outdoors — eroding our state's ability to offer outdoor recreation, improve water quality, and preserve threatened natural areas.
This bill will negatively impact public natural areas that are vital to Iowa's quality of life, workforce retention, economic development, water quality, and public health.
It would further erode Iowa’s ability to invest in and expand our parks, trails and wildlife areas — which are some of the top reasons people choose to live in or visit Iowa. We need to tell legislators to allow the Iowa DNR to protect and create special places in Iowa instead of making it harder to do so.
The bill is moving quickly so it is crucial to contact your representative today. Contact your Legislator using our simple email form to tell them to say no to SF 2324. We strongly encourage you to tailor the messages to your own community and personal experience. Form emails and voice messages are often dismissed by legislators. Personalized messages have a much greater impact!
