Substance Abuse Supports

We offer an Aboriginal Mental Health & Addictions Program (AMHA) and a Rapid Access Addictions Medicine Program (RAAM) through a multidisciplinary team, consisting of; addiction counsellors, social and outreach workers, nurses, physicians, group facilitators, and traditional healers.

Aboriginal Mental Health & Addictions Program (AMHA):

This is a day treatment program that is based on the belief that culture is care. Clients will participate in groups and engage in 1:1 counselling daily for up to 1 year. The program does afford flexibility and clients can attend as often as 5 days or as little as 2 days per week. There is evening program as well. Traditional Healers work with therapists to ensure that Indigenous identity is strongly promoted to foster self-confidence, healing and recovering in every woman and man. Intake is Monday to Friday and no appointment is necessary.

To Book an Appointment:

New clients can self-refer to the program for intake and no appointment is necessary. Intake is done at our Gerrard Street location, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m-12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. For existing clients of AMHA, appointments can be made through reception at any of our locations or AHT providers can schedule appointments for clients.

Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Program (RAAM):

The fentanyl overdose crisis continues to disproportionately affect the Indigenous community. Across Canada, fentanyl overdose deaths exceed the number of CoVid deaths, making our Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program critical to the care of Indigenous people who reliant on the contaminated street drug supply and those who are alcohol dependent. Community members can be ensured of no barrier service to medication assisted care for problem drug and alcohol use. Medication-assisted care liberates clients from illicit drug and alcohol dependence, allowing them to then (re)connect with family and engage in morale building social activities that affirm identity and reduce isolation.
