When we ask our community what brings them to and keeps them at Brooke, they tell us about relationships, results, and representation.
Relationships, Results, and Representation are at the heart of
Stories from Our Teachers, Students, and Families
At Brooke, We Are
Driven by Relationships, Results, and Representation
Relationships
Relationships are at the center of how we define great teaching at Brooke. Our teachers are only able to challenge every student if they know each student deeply, including understanding their families, what motivates them, and what they are struggling with.
Brooke embraces a culture of achievement wherein the expectation is that every child can excel academically. Our results show the impact of this approach; every year Brooke students' achievements make our school among the best in Boston.
Because more than 95% of our students are Black and Latinx, Brooke is focused on the shortage of Black and Brown teachers in Massachusetts. Through a variety of initiatives, we have diversified our staff so that more than half now identify as people of color.
After attending our eighth grade book club in the fall with @jdeleonwriter, Brooke Roslindale student Mariah organized not one, but two book clubs that included @wendymillsbooks βAll We Have Leftβ and @kellyquindlen βLate to the Partyβ (Mariah also invited Kelly for a Q&A with her book club!) π
